  Do born-agains dominate EX-JW's?

  do a quick look on the web and you will find most ex-jw or anti-jw sites are made by so called born again christians.

  i remember from being a witness that the general view of apostaes was that they had become born again christians.this was probably because so many actually do.

  is this having a negative effect or reducing the chances of witness reading information that may help them?

  Well, I wouldn't call myself a 'Born Again' but I did become a Christian after leaving the WT. I don't know if many xjw's who are now so-called born again are like me but I still deeply loved and believed in Jehovah - just hated the WTS. I was troubled and felt worthless until a Christian aunt started talking to me about Jesus and grace. It really was a special experience - the feeling of all that weight lifted off my heart.

  Anyway, I'll never be one of those bible-thumper types (again LOL). I'm mostly quiet about my faith and I didn't trade slavery to one thing for another. And honestly, I found some of those XJW Christian groups to be just as harsh and judgemental as JW's -if not worse. Most of my xjw friends are agnostic or are exploring alternative religion.

  That we wouldn't have freckles in the new system.

  That unless I was a pioneer I couldn't find a good husband because spiritual men only want to marry pioneers.

  You could become demonized from buying things at garage sales.

  Two sisters ditched a meeting to go see the exorcist. That night demons came into their rooms (seperately) and humped them.

  Which lie are you refering to? Was it when they changed the judgment time of the sheep and goats, or the fact the bible doesn't mention two classes of christians with two seperate hopes? How did you reach your conclusion?

  Both lies actually -but it was the changing of the the judgment time of the sheep & goats that started me thinking. I guess it was the first real *new light* situation that I faced as a babtised JW. I suddenly felt stricken of conscience that I'd participated in spreading a lie. It also made me wonder what else they were wrong about.

  A few weeks or maybe months later we were studying a book in the book study meeting - not sure which one, it was orange I think - and for the first time I was made aware that Jesus Christ is not my mediator according to the WTBS, no sir, he's only there for the 144,000 -lucky dogs. My mediator (and the mediator of all the lowly *other sheeple*) is the so-called annointed directed through the WTBS. I just knew that was a lie. I really believe at that moment, the Lord opened my eyes. He then sent a (real) Christian relative to minister to me. I learned about grace for the first time and got a glimpse of the real Jesus. It was wonderful and frightening. I knew my whole world was about to change. I decided right then that I was never going out in service again.

  A series of events then happened in my life that allowed me time (guilt free) away from the meetings. I had access to the internet and read any and all JW info I could find. Never went back to another meeting.

  Did the WTS make an atheist out of you?

  shouldn't a religion bring people closer to god?

  it would seem that many became atheist after being deceived by the wts.

  unlike other religions, the wts was very precise in what was to happen during the 20th century.

  I never stopped believing in God - just went through stages of who I thought He was. It all came full circle back to Christ for me. This is the Lord I have been given and I accept Him. I still have some enormous prejudices against Christians in general - even though I am one. I should say the current Christian movement today. The far right Jerry Falwell crowd scares me as much as the Watchtower does.

  Wonder why the didn't dare?

  Yes, mostly. My parents are actually disfellowshipped themselves. Long story but my JW family is grandparents, cousins etc. But was closer to them then my parents. So my parents don't shun me but the rest of them do. I don't know why the congregation never went after me. It's a mystery. I guess they figured I disassociated myself. I don't think any kind of announcement was made though. That was 6 years ago. I got a reputation as an apostate right away even though I wasn't - was just angry at the GB for lying to us about the sheep & goats parable.

  A friend of mine who later left the witnesses herself confessed to me that I was the subject of much gossip for a long time after I left. They knew absolutely nothing of what I was doing but somehow I was an apostate slut shooting up heroin. lol! Lovely Christians they are. I was a popular, cute single sister/ pioneer with a old school JW family known far & wide. Was once the darling of the congregation. You know how those things go. As much as they build you up they tear you down even worse. It hurt, I confess but I'm so over it now.

  I hear through the grape vine that they miss me and my auntie *cries* every time someone mentions my name. Crocodile tears since she is the person who started the apostate rumors.

  Thank you very much!!! I come back from a bite to eat and see a thread about me.

  I've lurked here for years actually. I don't know why I haven't joined in till now. I guess my old (non-JW) chat board was getting boring and I want some new friends. So will you all be my friends???

  The usual story here - former 3rd generation Watchtower clown on the outs with the JW family for telling them the Watchtower Society are nothing but a bunch of Pharises. Never DF'd - just walked away and dared them to come after me. They didn't. Married me a man and had a baby in that order. Loving life as a mommy!

  That's about all - except for the really juicy details about my life post Watchtower and Pre new Christian life... but will save that for later.

  Enjoyed your post. Thank you. I was out to dinner last weekend when the restaurant became flooded with well-dressed families. I knew instantly they were J-dubs coming from a convention in a near by venue. I noticed that their name tags simply said "Walk with God" and didn't appear to have any reference to the WT org - but I didn't look up close at them so it may have been in fine print somewhere. I thought that was kind of odd.

  Anyway, sure felt good to be there eating with my family, knowing I am free and NEVER EVER EVER have to endure another summer vacation wasted by the WT.

  I finally went to CHURCH----and didn't feel guilty!

  i've was df'd over 6 years ago after spending all of my life a jw.

  i remember thinking i could never step foot in a church out of guilt or fear.

  however, i am feeling a loss of some kind of christian fellowship....i think i read a few other posts regarding this need for some of you.. i knew i would not go back to a kh, either.

  This is my first post here!

  Just had to chime in because I can really relate to how it felt the first time going to church after leaving the JW's. It was scary but fun too. I happened to go to a Pentacostal church (invited by a friend). There was lots of singing and praise, a few AMEN's! No one rolling in the isles though. The people were so happy. Genuine pleasure at being there. So different from the KH robots.

  I felt really bad for my past feelings towards people in other churches. If we drove past a church while out in service we would (in a joking way) roll up our windows to keep the church demons from flying in the car. LOL! Little did I really know of the Holy Spirit. Still it took me 5 years to actually join a church family though. It's hard to break completely from the JW brainwashing.
